The Ten Books on Architecture by Vitruvius Pollio ( Author )
The Ten Books on Architecture is a treatise on architecture written by the Roman architect and military engineer Marcus Vitruvius Pollio. It was dedicated to his patron, the emperor Caesar Augustus, as a guide for building projects. The treatise is written in Latin and is also known as De architectura, libri decem. In the preface of Book I, Vitruvius dedicates his writings to giving personal knowledge of the quality of buildings to the emperor.
