It is appropriate that a book containing the texts of Inaugural Lectures should be published. It's true that these Lectures are already available in booklets which are distributed among academic staff. Nevertheless, the circulation of these booklets is limited. These Lectures should be gathered in a book so that they can be accessed by a wider audience, both local and overseas. This book was conceived for the purpose. Its aim is to preserve the intellectual contributions of our esteemed colleagues for the benefit of posterity. The Inaugural Lecture Collection Series will be published in four volumes: Volume IA: Melayu, Islam dan Pendidikan Volume IB: Social Sciences in Malaysia Volume II: Health Science in Malaysia Volume III: Science and Technology in Malaysia
