He was educated at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he obtained degrees in architecture. In 1996, he was awarded a PhD from the University of Edinburgh. Tajuddin is an award-winning author of numerous books on architecture, pertaining to Islam, housing, community-building and administrative planning. He is currently a columnist for The Star and Sin Chew Daily, having also written for The Borneo Post, Free Malaysia Today, Sinar Harian and Utusan Malaysia.
